It was a night of passion the likes of which Sora could never have imagined. From the moment he had thrown Antoni onto the bed and straddled him, flesh pressed to flesh, to the gentle kisses he trailed down his sweat covered back, he was in ecstasy.
Sora found his mother sitting beside her chamber’s fireplace with her cat, Sir Pounce, curled up on her lap. When she saw him, he bowed his head before sitting in the chair across from her. He knew the moment he was summoned he was in trouble; he just was not sure how much trouble.
Sora wiped the unspent tears from Annalisa’s eyes then held her as they said good bye before the large crowd of emotionally-charged peasants who hung on every action and word made by the seemingly ecstatic royal couple. As was tradition in her homeland, she was returning to Duband to prepare the marital home for Prince Sora’s arrival. With more senseless rituals than Antoni wished to count, he did not much care why she was leaving, only that she would be elsewhere for the final six weeks of their engagement. Her absence was his final opportunity to realize his dream and make what he gave up in pursuit of his desires worthwhile. And if he failed…
Yes, it is. Karinth smiled, though it was cold. So happy to know you haven’t lost use of all your facilities.
Antoni watched them from a distance as the happy couple put on a royal show for all the people naive enough to believe they witness true love in all its shinning glory. He knew better. He knew they only acted as though their feelings were true to appease both their houses. He is mine, you filthy harlot. You may have his body when the eyes of the kingdom watch but I have everything else.
Antoni waited eagerly among the throng of curious nobles of Biscay in the great hall for the mysterious announcement the royal family had kept secret from all but a few for weeks. The anticipation was palpable; every soul, both inside the castle walls and outside in the courtyard, wondered what news would be announced. Some wondered if the king, long missing from public view, would finally abdicate and raise Prince Tidus to the throne while others wondered if the Crown Prince had finally chosen a future queen. A few even whispered that while it was a wedding announcement, it was the younger prince would soon be wed.
Domiq was escorted to the throne room as soon as the first sentry spotted him just outside the palace wall. As he waited for the queen to arrive, he counted all the ways she could have pain inflicted on him for hiding his knowledge of her son’s whereabouts for so long. He had seen her anger and learned long ago that as loved as she was by her empire, she was also a force to be feared if betrayed.
Domiq had spent most days since Antoni struck his deal with Karinth watching over his friend from the home he had made himself just off the coast of Biscay. Though he hated being separated from the one he loved most and the sight of he and his human lover together pained him in ways he could never put into words, he was determined to see that he was safe.
Antoni had avoided both Sora and Annalisa until the latter was half way back to her own country. He despised her, simply for sharing Sora’s nights while he locked himself away. Antoni feared that if he saw the future queen and no eyes were around, he would have ended her and that would not endear him to the royal family. Even if the truth could stay hidden, no one would believe he had nothing to do with the murder of his lover’s betrothed.
The warm breeze rustled Antoni’s hair as he stepped into the castle courtyard and took a deep breath of sweet air. During his many weeks on dry land, he had yet to leave the stone walls and venture into the sunlight. While he could feel the warmth and smell the fresh air from inside he was not prepared for the beautiful assault his senses would experience.
