Oh, look, another post this week! I’m so proud of myself. But, seriously, me patting myself on the back isn’t the point of this, though you may pat away, but to announce that I’ve come to a decision. It’s not life altering or shocking or anything all that fancy but it is important, to me anyways. Everyone else may be all oh, I don’t give a rat’s patoot and that’s cool. But I’m announcing it anyways.
MOVIE MAKING TIME!
Those of us not of Anne Rice or Stephen King level success (yet) and as we make our winding way there, it’s important us not so rich and famous do what we can to help each other out. That’s why I love donating to indie filmmakers even when I shouldn’t part with what little money I might have at the moment. So, in addition to that fun stuff, I’m also going to Stephen King route.
Ever heard of “Dollar Babies” films? Those are the ones Stephen King allows to be made by student and emerging filmmakers – as long as they pay him one dollar, never public release it and send him a finished copy. I’d like to go one step more; let the film be released if deemed worthy of public consumption. See, I’m all about the support thing and seeing I’m a writer, this is one way I think I can.
So here’s the deal. If you’ve ever read any of my stories, serial or books and thought I’d love to put that to film, let me know. Seriously. We’ll work something out. I won’t ask for big time bucks up front but if the film makes money, how about a share? An executive producer credit? Updates on filming? An invite to set, if local? Yea, those work. Now, show me what you got. What have you already done? Send over those examples. Sweet. Now, let’s make a movie.
Sound like something you’d be interested in doing? Let me know.
Now, if you come at me but you're from one of those big time places, it'll cost you a whole lot more. Cause you can afford it. Just saying.
Also, if you are into film making, check out Youth Filmmaker; those boys are dead serious about their craft and love to talk all about it. They’re also on Twitter and Facebook so tell ‘em what an awesome job they’re doing there, too (also, follow and like them, y'all).
UPDATES UPDATES UPDATES
Innocence Lost is still with my betas and I can’t stand the painful wait! I so want to move onto the next step and can’t wait till my readers tell me all the things they think. Also, The Sea Prince is coming long very nicely, thank you very much. It’s become so much more than the original serial with all new characters, scenes and more being added in. It’s a huge departure from Innocence Lost and has me super excited to finish and share it with all of you.
Well, that’s it for tonight. Now go have fun, be nice and just enjoy.
Oh, wait, forgot one last thing. I'm still majoryly pushing my first spotlight so if you could retweet this here post (or, if you already did that, visit here and share it everywhere?) cause Dark Rygen is the best on YouTube right now and everyone needs to check him out. Kthanksbye :)
